It’s not every day that your donation to a really worthwhile cause gets you something in return but that’s exactly what is happening from May 13-19, 2017 during ask an architect week 2017.
In return for a £40 donation to support clinical trials and cancer research in Northern Ireland, chartered architects are providing an hour long consultation to discuss any building project. Donating and booking your architect can all be done online at www.askanarchitect-ni.com where the public can choose from over 60 architects who are volunteering their time to support the initiative.
All donations will go to the Friends of the Cancer Centre through its partnership with the Jill Todd Trust. The Trust was established to commemorate Jill whose life was taken by cancer. Jill was 23 and the daughter of well-known local architect, Barrie Todd. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors who are covering administration costs, every penny donated will go to support locally led cancer research.
Ask an architect has been organised by the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) and PLACE in partnership with the two charities. Now in its second year, the aim is to encourage more people to take advantage of this fantastic offer.
Ciarán Fox, Director of RSUA, explained, “Undertaking a building or home improvement project, whatever its scale, can be a daunting experience and many people often don’t know where to start. The great thing about ‘ask an architect’ is that you will have a no-strings-attached opportunity to talk to a chartered architect in your area, who can guide you through your options and answer your questions. This is the perfect chance to get professional advice to help move your project forward.”
Ana Wilkinson, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Friends of the Cancer Centre, said, “I would encourage anyone thinking of doing some home improvements or taking on a building project to get involved and not miss this unique opportunity.
