Hood McGowan Kirk LLP (HMK) has highlighted the company’s forward-thinking approach by opening new offices at Newforge Lane in Belfast.
The leading construction cost consultancy provides quantity surveying and project management services to clients throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland and moved from its former base at Boucher Road to these custom-designed, first-floor offices.
The company moved into the new premises in March and HMK is already celebrating success, as its impressive £5m reconfiguration of Colby House for the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) was named as the winner of the Commercial Project of the Year at the RICS Northern Ireland Awards. HMK was both the project manager and quantity surveyor on the Colby House project and this success marks the second year in a row that HMK has won an RICS NI Award.
“It has been a busy few months but we are delighted to be firmly settled in our new offices and to be celebrating our RICS Award success,” explained Ciara Maitland, Partner at HMK. “We take pride in every project we work on and we feel that our new premises reflect our professional approach.”
The offices at M&D House were completely refurbished and reconfigured to create a space that specifically meets HMK’s requirements. The company worked closely with Gregory Architects on the design, with Felix O’Hare the main contractor on the project. HMK also worked closely with Office Works NI on the new furniture in the open plan offices.
“It was a different feeling being the client for a change, but we worked with a superb team to make sure we could meet our objectives,” added Ciara, who, alongside Andrew Maxwell, was appointed as a Partner last year, joining current partner Michael Jordan.
While HMK was established in 1959, the consultancy very much has a forward-thinking approach that is combined with traditional values.
Significant investment has been made in the practice during the last 12 months, with the appointment of the two new partners and the office move coinciding with the introduction of BIM capabilities across all staff alongside a full IT upgrade. A new website will be launched in the near future, with other developments in the pipeline over the next year.
“It is an exciting time for HMK,” added Ciara. “We are proud of our reputation for reliability and as we approach our 60th anniversary in business, our focus is on maintaining that.”
