Mannok’s Precast team have successfully completed works on a third large-scale healthcare facility in partnership with leading Irish construction company, Esmonde Developments. Mannok was selected as key supplier of all precast concrete elements for Arklow Primary Care Centre by Esmonde following successful projects in Wicklow and Cabra.
According to Esmonde’s Construction Project Manager, Eddie Hogan, it was their previous experience of working with Mannok on the construction of a 100-bed state-of-the-art residential care centre in Wicklow and a 5,000m2 care home in Dublin which secured the contract for the Arklow project:

The new 8,000m2 Care Centre’s modern design creates a warm, inviting & elegant building with compelling architectural features to complement the existing urban fabric of Arklow Town.
Mannok designed, manufactured, delivered and installed all precast concrete elements in the purpose-built four-storey steel frame building, including a total of 5,000m2 of precast hollowcore slabs and 50 precast stairs and landings.
Fitting works were professionally and safely completed by the experienced Mannok installation crew in a tight timeframe of five weeks. Mannok’s end-to-end service offering meant a collaborative approach to success was in operation long before a slab was laid or a staircase made, with an extensive value engineering process undertaken at an early stage, which enabled Mannok’s experienced Design Engineers to advise Esmonde on the most cost effective, bespoke design solution.
With a total of 80 loads of Precast elements delivered to site and 2 mobile cranes, including a mobile 220t crane, required to complete the fitting, the site’s location and surrounds were important considerations. The 0.46-hectare site, nestled between busy main roads in the heart of Arklow town centre, demanded a high degree of pre-planning and extensive collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure safe and considerate construction.
Led by one of the company’s most experienced Contracts Managers, the Mannok team worked in partnership with all key stakeholders, including Local Authorities, to precision plan and safely execute all works, including the co-ordination of required road closures and incorporating out-of-hours installation into the challenging Programme of Works to minimise disruption to the public.
Timing is critical to the success of any large-scale project, and this Programme of Works, the speed of installation and Mannok’s “just in time” deliveries, closely co-ordinated with the Steel Fabricators, all contributed to the safe and efficient completion of works, on time, on budget, and to the client’s specification.
