Northern Ireland hosts first ever Apprenticeship Week

Don’t miss out on the apprenticeship events taking place this week across the province from 3 to 7 February 2020.

This week sees the first Apprenticeship Week taking place in Northern Ireland. The new initiative, launched by The Department for the Economy, is designed to showcase how apprenticeships work for individuals, businesses, communities and the wider economy, through a range of events taking place from 3 to 7 of February 2020.

Young people and their parents have been invited to attend skills showcases and ‘have a go’ at demonstrations of traditional apprenticeship areas such as Construction, Plumbing and Electrical Installation, as well as having the opportunity to hear directly with former apprentices and meet prospective future employers.

Speaking during the launch of Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week 2020, Deputy Secretary of DfE Heather Cousins said: “Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week provides the opportunity for everyone involved in apprenticeships, or interested in finding out more about apprenticeships, to come together during a week-long programme of apprenticeship events and activity.”

“Let’s all discover the benefits apprenticeships can bring to businesses, individuals and our economy and consider attending the wide range of apprenticeship events and activity taking place near you during apprenticeship week by visiting the Apprenticeship Events page on nidirect.

Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week 2020 will run until Friday 7 February. Those interested in attending apprenticeship events can find more information on events taking place near them by visiting www.nidirect.gov.uk
